Tillamook County

Welcome to Tillamook County - land of trees, cheese and ocean breeze.  The county was named after the Tillamook Indians who lived in the areas surrounding the Tillamook and Nehalem Bays.  When early settlers saw these green valleys in 1851, theCheese Factoryy recognized that Tillamook’s mild climate, abundant water, and year around pastures were perfect for raising dairy cattle.  Today, dairy farming remains a way of life in Tillamook County, with over 150 family farms providing the milk used to create the finest ice cream, and the world renowned Tillamook® Cheese.

Recreational opportunities range from the most exhilarating to the most relaxing, from sail boarding to sightseeing; from motocross to museums; from catching salmon to just catching some sun rays, which are sometimes more elusive.  In addition, our coastal communities offer shops full of local and unique products, art, antiques, exquisite restaurants, and home cooked meals. read more>>>
